This instrument was started back in 1984 when Kettler Mandolins were still in regular production. It was never finished, however, because of problems with the top. But it was kept around and played for years “in the white” because it had a really nice tone, despite its flaws. Then recently the flawed top was removed and a new Adirondack spruce top was carved and tuned, and the final touches were put on it before offering it up for sale.
